Personalized Learning Styles....

It's interesting to see how education has changed over the years as technology has changed.  In recent years, there has been a monumental shift (with the help of technology) toward individualized instruction.  There a 3 ways that this can be achieved; 1) Project Based learning (PBL) , 2) Blended learning, and 3) Flipped Classroom.  I think the ability of the teacher knowing his/her students will dictate which one of these to move toward.  I have used Blended learning with great success in certain areas and have used PBL with moderate success as well.  Blended learning is a little easier for many teachers to start with because it still allows you a little more control of content. It is difficult for teachers to just "let it go" and allow students to be self-directed and the Blended Learning model, still give the teacher that firm grip on content. In Blended Learning teachers can post videos, screen casts, etc for students to watch outside of class.  In-class time is spent putting what they watched into action.  It allows t students to spend more time on the execution of content vs the "how to".  In-class time the teacher can spend more time with individuals that need more guided instruction.  If you have never looked toward  letting go, start with a blended learning.  Find 1 topic that students can watch at home and then practice in class.  Start small, finish big.
